1. SERVICE & REPAIR AUTHORISATION
By submitting a device to TechLab+, you confirm that:
- you own the device or have the owner’s authority to authorise work on it;
- you authorise TechLab+ to inspect, diagnose, open and disassemble the device where reasonably necessary;
- you authorise us to perform the repair or service that you approve;
- information you provide regarding the device, fault and repair history is accurate to the best of your knowledge; and
- you will disclose any known previous repairs, modifications, liquid exposure, impact damage, bending, crushing or other relevant history.
For diagnostic and repair purposes, we may need to power on, charge, restart, disassemble, reconnect, update or test relevant functions of the device.
2. DEVICE CONDITION & PRE-REPAIR RECORDS
TechLab+ may inspect and record the condition and functionality of a device when it is received.
Records may include:
- photographs or video;
- existing cracks, chips, dents, scratches or marks;
- condition of screens, displays, back glass, lids, frames, housings and enclosures;
- evidence of bending, impact or pressure;
- condition of hinges, keyboards, trackpads, ports and connectors;
- cameras and sensors;
- Face ID, Touch ID or other biometric functions;
- charging, speakers and microphones;
- liquid indicators or corrosion;
- diagnostic results;
- serial numbers, IMEI numbers or other identifiers; and
- evidence of previous repair work.
These records may be used for repair documentation, quality control, warranty assessment, complaints, chargebacks or legal disputes.
A pre-repair inspection does not guarantee that every internal component is free from hidden damage.
3. DIAGNOSIS, QUOTATIONS & REPAIR PROCESS
Any quotation or estimate provided before a device has been fully inspected may be based upon the information reasonably available at that time.
Further inspection or disassembly may reveal additional or hidden faults, including:
- motherboard or logic-board damage;
- hidden impact damage;
- corrosion or liquid damage;
- damaged connectors or flex cables;
- battery faults;
- previous poor-quality repairs;
- damaged frames, housings or hinges;
- damaged cameras or sensors;
- biometric-component damage; or
- other faults that could not reasonably have been identified beforehand.
Where additional chargeable work is required beyond the repair already authorised, TechLab+ will normally obtain your approval before carrying it out.
Repair times are estimates unless a specific completion time has expressly been agreed.
4. DIAGNOSTIC FEES & NO FIX, NO FEE
Where advertised or agreed, diagnosis may be free if you proceed with the recommended repair.
If you choose not to proceed following diagnosis, an agreed diagnostic or labour charge may apply where this was communicated before the relevant work was undertaken.
TechLab+’s
No Fix, No Fee policy generally means that where TechLab+ is unable to perform the agreed repair, you will not be charged for that repair.
Separately agreed charges may still apply for:
- specialist diagnostic work;
- extensive diagnostic labour;
- motherboard or board-level investigation;
- data recovery;
- software work;
- specially ordered or non-returnable parts; or
- another separately agreed chargeable service.
5. PRE-EXISTING DAMAGE & HIDDEN FAULTS
Electronic devices can contain faults or weaknesses that are not externally visible.
A fault becoming apparent during or after repair does not by itself establish that TechLab+ caused the fault.
Pre-existing conditions may include:
- motherboard or logic-board damage;
- weakened internal connections;
- damaged flex cables;
- damaged connectors;
- damaged hinges;
- frame or chassis deformation;
- battery deterioration;
- corrosion;
- previous liquid ingress;
- previous poor-quality repairs;
- damaged biometric components;
- damaged cameras or sensors; and
- impact, crushing, bending or pressure damage.
TechLab+ is not responsible for a fault merely because it becomes apparent during or after our work where the fault resulted from the device’s pre-existing condition and was not caused by TechLab+’s failure to exercise reasonable care and skill.
6. SEVERELY DAMAGED DEVICES
Devices that are significantly cracked, bent, crushed, heavily impacted, corroded, liquid damaged, previously dismantled or otherwise severely damaged carry an increased repair risk.
Internal components can already be weakened despite appearing to function beforehand.
Opening, heating, separating, disassembling or manipulating such a device can expose or aggravate an existing weakness.
Where TechLab+ identifies and explains a particular material risk before proceeding and you nevertheless authorise the repair, you acknowledge that identified risk.
This does not remove TechLab+’s responsibility to carry out the authorised service with reasonable care and skill.
7. LIQUID & WATER DAMAGE
Liquid damage is unpredictable and can continue to cause deterioration following the original exposure.
A liquid-damaged device may:
- develop additional faults;
- work temporarily and subsequently fail;
- contain corrosion that is not initially visible;
- require further components or repairs;
- suffer motherboard or logic-board failure;
- lose functionality during reasonable diagnosis or repair; or
- be beyond economical repair.
Unless expressly agreed otherwise, TechLab+ cannot guarantee a permanent or successful repair of a liquid-damaged device.
Where an existing liquid-related weakness becomes apparent during reasonable diagnostic or repair work, this alone does not establish that TechLab+ caused the failure.
8. COMPONENT-SPECIFIC REPAIRS
A repair relates to the component, fault or service agreed with the customer.
Repairing or replacing one component does not constitute confirmation that every other component within the device is undamaged.
For example, impact, pressure, bending, liquid exposure, age or previous repairs may separately affect:
- screens and displays;
- back glass;
- laptop lids and housings;
- frames and chassis;
- hinges;
- keyboards and trackpads;
- batteries;
- charging ports;
- motherboard or logic-board components;
- Face ID, Touch ID or fingerprint recognition;
- cameras;
- sensors;
- speakers;
- microphones;
- wireless charging components; or
- internal connectors and flex cables.
A subsequent fault affecting another component does not by itself establish that the repair caused that fault.
9. PHYSICAL DAMAGE & CUSTOMER POSSESSION
Once a device has been returned to or collected by the customer,
TechLab+ is not liable for physical or accidental damage that occurs while the device is in the customer’s possession or otherwise outside TechLab+’s possession.
Physical or accidental damage includes, but is not limited to:
- cracked, shattered or damaged screens and displays;
- cracked or shattered back glass;
- broken or damaged laptop displays;
- damaged laptop lids, cases, palm rests or bottom covers;
- broken hinges or hinge-related physical damage;
- damaged keyboards, trackpads or keys;
- broken camera or lens glass;
- chips, dents, scratches or cosmetic damage;
- damaged ports or connectors;
- impact or drop damage;
- pressure damage;
- bending, twisting or crushing;
- damaged frames, housings, cases or enclosures;
- liquid or moisture damage; and
- any other physical or accidental damage occurring after the device has left TechLab+’s possession.
The customer is responsible for the care and condition of the device once it has been returned to them.
The appearance or discovery of physical damage after a device has left TechLab+’s possession does not, by itself, establish that the damage was caused by TechLab+ or was present when the device was returned to the customer.
Where the cause or timing of damage is disputed, TechLab+ may consider relevant evidence including photographs, repair and diagnostic records, the condition of the device when it left our possession, the nature and location of the damage, signs of impact or pressure, condition of the frame, housing, hinges or enclosure, and any subsequent damage, modification or repair.
Nothing in this section excludes liability for damage proven to have been caused by TechLab+ while the device was in our possession or excludes any statutory consumer right or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
10. FACE ID, TOUCH ID & BIOMETRIC FUNCTIONS
Face ID, Touch ID, fingerprint recognition and similar biometric systems can be particularly sensitive to impact, liquid exposure, previous repairs and damage to associated components.
Where a biometric feature is already faulty or has been affected by the original damage, TechLab+ cannot guarantee that repairing another component will restore or preserve that functionality.
Where reasonably practicable, TechLab+ may test relevant functions before and after repair.
A subsequent biometric fault does not by itself establish that TechLab+ caused the fault.
11. REPLACEMENT PARTS
Depending upon availability and the repair selected, TechLab+ may offer:
- genuine manufacturer parts;
- original-equipment parts;
- refurbished parts; or
- compatible replacement components.
Where relevant to your decision, TechLab+ will provide material information concerning the replacement option being offered.
Compatible or refurbished components may differ from new manufacturer-original components in appearance, calibration, specification or functionality.
Where we reasonably know that a particular replacement component may affect a device feature, we will endeavour to disclose this before proceeding.
12. MANUFACTURER WARRANTIES & THIRD-PARTY COVER
Repair by an independent repair provider may affect a manufacturer’s warranty, insurance arrangement, retailer warranty or manufacturer service programme.
Customers should check applicable manufacturer or insurance conditions before authorising an independent repair where maintaining such cover is important.
TechLab+ cannot control whether a manufacturer, insurer, retailer or other third party will subsequently accept a claim.
13. DATA & CUSTOMER BACKUPS
Customers are strongly advised to back up all important data before submitting a device to TechLab+.
Electronic repair and diagnostic work can involve circumstances in which information becomes inaccessible, including:
- existing hardware failure;
- software corruption;
- device restoration;
- resetting;
- storage failure;
- motherboard or logic-board failure; or
- another underlying device fault.
TechLab+ does not provide a backup service unless this has specifically been agreed.
We will exercise reasonable care when handling your device.
TechLab+ is not responsible for data already lost, corrupted or inaccessible before or independently of our work, or for data loss resulting from circumstances for which TechLab+ is not legally responsible.
Nothing in this section excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
14. DEVICE ACCESS, PASSCODES & PRIVACY
Some repairs require access to device functions for diagnosis and testing.
Where reasonably necessary, you may be asked to unlock the device or provide temporary access.
TechLab+ personnel will only access applications, settings, information or functions to the extent reasonably necessary to diagnose, repair and test the device.
Personal information will be handled in accordance with applicable data-protection law and TechLab+’s Privacy Policy.
Customers who provide a passcode for repair purposes are encouraged to change it following collection.
15. TECHLAB+ COMMERCIAL REPAIR WARRANTY
Unless a different period is expressly stated on the customer’s invoice or repair record, TechLab+ provides a
3-month commercial repair warranty covering the replacement part supplied by TechLab+ and the workmanship directly associated with the repair.
The warranty period begins on the date the repair is completed.
The commercial warranty covers qualifying defects involving:
- a replacement component supplied by TechLab+; or
- workmanship directly relating to the repair performed by TechLab+.
The TechLab+ commercial warranty does not cover:
- physical or accidental damage occurring after the device leaves TechLab+’s possession;
- cracked, shattered or otherwise physically damaged components;
- impact or drop damage;
- pressure damage;
- bending, twisting or crushing;
- liquid or moisture damage occurring after repair;
- misuse or neglect;
- cosmetic damage;
- damage caused by another repair provider;
- unauthorised modification;
- unrelated hardware or software faults;
- pre-existing faults;
- customer-supplied parts; or
- another condition unrelated to the component supplied or workmanship performed by TechLab+.
The 3-month TechLab+ commercial warranty is additional to and does not replace or restrict statutory consumer rights.
16. WARRANTY CLAIMS & INSPECTION
Where a customer believes a repaired component has developed a qualifying fault, TechLab+ should be given a reasonable opportunity to inspect the device.
TechLab+ may examine:
- the reported fault;
- physical condition of the device;
- signs of impact or pressure;
- liquid indicators;
- frame, chassis, housing or hinge condition;
- internal components;
- diagnostic information;
- photographs and repair records;
- evidence of subsequent damage;
- whether the device has subsequently been opened, modified or repaired elsewhere; and
- other evidence reasonably relevant to determining the cause.
TechLab+ will assess whether a claim falls within our commercial warranty based upon the available evidence and the terms of that warranty.
This does not prevent a customer from exercising statutory rights.
Where another repair provider has subsequently opened, modified or repaired the component or area concerned, this may affect TechLab+’s ability to determine the original cause of the reported problem and may therefore affect coverage under our commercial warranty.
17. CLAIMS MADE AFTER AN EXTENDED PERIOD
The fact that a customer experiences a problem weeks or months after repair does not by itself establish that the problem existed when TechLab+ performed the repair or supplied the replacement component.
Where applicable law places the burden upon the customer to establish that a fault or lack of conformity existed when the component was supplied or the repair performed, TechLab+ may request appropriate supporting evidence.
Depending upon the circumstances, relevant evidence may include:
- photographs;
- diagnostic reports;
- independent technical assessments;
- repair records;
- condition of the device;
- nature of the alleged fault; and
- age and history of the repair.
Nothing in this section changes any burden of proof imposed by applicable law.
18. PROBLEMS FOLLOWING A REPAIR
If you experience a problem that you believe relates to a repair performed by TechLab+, please contact us as soon as reasonably practicable after becoming aware of it.
TechLab+ may require the device to be returned for inspection so that we can determine whether the problem relates to:
- the repair performed;
- the replacement component;
- workmanship;
- physical or accidental damage;
- pre-existing damage;
- subsequent liquid damage;
- subsequent third-party work; or
- a separate or unrelated fault.
Customers should give TechLab+ a reasonable opportunity to inspect the device and, where appropriate, provide a remedy.
Nothing in this section restricts statutory consumer rights.
19. DATA RECOVERY
Data recovery is inherently uncertain.
TechLab+ cannot guarantee that:
- any particular information will be recovered;
- all information will be recoverable;
- recovered files will be complete; or
- recovered files will be undamaged or usable.
The scope and price of data-recovery work will be agreed or explained before chargeable work is undertaken.
Customers remain responsible for reviewing recovered information and making appropriate backups following recovery.
20. CUSTOMER-SUPPLIED PARTS
TechLab+ may, at its discretion, agree to install a component supplied by the customer.
Customer-supplied parts are considered on a case-by-case basis, and TechLab+ reserves the right to accept or refuse them.
Where TechLab+ agrees to install a customer-supplied component, we cannot verify or guarantee its:
- authenticity;
- quality;
- condition;
- compatibility;
- performance; or
- durability.
TechLab+ does not provide any warranty on any component or part that was not supplied by TechLab+.
If a customer-supplied component subsequently fails, develops a fault or proves incompatible, the component itself will not be covered by the TechLab+ commercial repair warranty.
TechLab+’s obligation to carry out any agreed installation with reasonable care and skill remains unaffected.
TechLab+ may refuse to install a customer-supplied component that we reasonably consider unsafe, unsuitable, damaged, poor quality or incompatible.
21. PAYMENT & PRICING
Repair prices depend upon factors including the parts required, labour and repair complexity.
The customer must pay the agreed price for the authorised repair and any additional work subsequently authorised.
Unless otherwise agreed, payment is due when the repair is completed and before the device is released.
Where a repair is cancelled after specifically ordered non-returnable parts have been purchased or separately chargeable work has been authorised and undertaken, reasonable charges may apply where these were disclosed beforehand.
Where permitted by law, TechLab+ may retain possession of a repaired device until sums properly due in relation to the repair have been paid.
22. UNCOLLECTED DEVICES – 30-DAY COLLECTION PERIOD
Customers are responsible for collecting devices promptly after TechLab+ notifies them that the device is ready for collection.
Devices should be collected within 30 days of TechLab+ first notifying the customer that they are ready for collection.
TechLab+ may contact the customer using the telephone number, email address or other contact details supplied.
Customers are responsible for ensuring that their contact information is accurate and up to date.
If a device remains uncollected after 30 days, TechLab+ may begin the applicable process for dealing with uncollected goods.
Following expiry of the 30-day collection period and completion of any notice or other procedure required by applicable law, TechLab+ may recycle, sell or otherwise dispose of the uncollected device as legally permitted.
Where legally permitted, sums properly due to TechLab+ may be deducted from the proceeds of any lawful sale, with any remaining balance dealt with as required by law.
Nothing in this section permits TechLab+ to dispose of customer property contrary to applicable law.
23. PARTS REMOVED DURING REPAIR
Unless otherwise agreed, defective components removed during repair may be retained by TechLab+ for recycling or responsible disposal.
If you wish to retain a replaced component, you should tell us before the repair is undertaken.
Returning an original component may not always be possible where it is subject to a manufacturer, supplier, exchange or core-return programme.
24. REPAIR RISKS
Electronic-device repairs may require:
- disassembly;
- heat;
- removal or replacement of adhesives;
- separation of damaged components;
- soldering or board-level work;
- software procedures; and
- repeated testing.
TechLab+ will perform authorised work using reasonable care and skill.
Repairing one fault does not mean that TechLab+ guarantees that an ageing, damaged, liquid-affected or previously repaired device will remain free from unrelated faults.
25. CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITIES
Customers are responsible for:
- providing accurate contact information;
- accurately describing known faults;
- disclosing known liquid exposure;
- disclosing significant impact, bending or crushing damage;
- informing TechLab+ of previous repairs where known;
- backing up important information where possible;
- ensuring they have authority to authorise the repair;
- taking reasonable care of the device following its return; and
- collecting the device within the collection period.
26. COLLECTION & DEVICE CONDITION
Where reasonably practicable, customers are encouraged to inspect and test their repaired device when collecting it.
Relevant functions may include the repaired component and other readily testable functions.
TechLab+ may record the physical condition and functionality of a device following completion of a repair or at collection.
Collection does not remove statutory rights concerning a defect that could not reasonably have been identified at that time.
Equally, a fault or physical condition discovered or arising after collection does not by itself establish that it existed when the device left TechLab+’s possession.
27. THIRD-PARTY REPAIRS FOLLOWING TECHLAB+ WORK
Where a customer believes a TechLab+ repair is faulty, TechLab+ should be given a reasonable opportunity to inspect the device before another repair provider alters the relevant component or area, where reasonably possible.
If another repair provider subsequently opens, repairs or modifies the relevant area, this may affect our ability to determine:
- the original cause of the fault;
- whether TechLab+’s repair was defective;
- whether subsequent work contributed to the problem; and
- whether the claim falls within our commercial warranty.
This does not prevent customers from exercising statutory rights.
28. LIABILITY
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits TechLab+’s liability where doing so would be unlawful.
TechLab+ is not responsible merely because a fault, failure or damage becomes apparent during or after a repair.
TechLab+ will not be responsible for loss, damage or faults to the extent that the evidence shows they resulted from:
- the device’s pre-existing condition;
- an underlying or hidden fault;
- physical or accidental damage occurring outside TechLab+’s possession;
- impact;
- pressure;
- bending or crushing;
- customer misuse;
- subsequent liquid exposure;
- corrosion;
- previous third-party repair work;
- subsequent third-party repair work;
- customer-supplied components; or
- another circumstance for which TechLab+ is not legally responsible.
Nothing in this section removes TechLab+’s responsibility to perform services with reasonable care and skill.
29. BUSINESS CUSTOMERS
Where a customer contracts with TechLab+ wholly or mainly for purposes relating to their trade, business, craft or profession, they are acting as a business customer rather than a consumer.
Separate commercial terms may apply to:
- trade accounts;
- corporate customers;
- bulk repair contracts;
- subcontracted repair services; and
- recurring business customers.
Where separate written commercial terms are agreed, those terms will apply as specified in that agreement.
30. DELAYS & EVENTS OUTSIDE OUR REASONABLE CONTROL
TechLab+ is not responsible for delays caused solely by circumstances outside our reasonable control.
These may include:
- supplier disruption;
- unavailable or delayed replacement components;
- transport disruption;
- severe weather;
- power failure;
- telecommunications failure; or
- other comparable events.
Where such circumstances materially delay a repair, TechLab+ will endeavour to keep the customer informed and continue the service when reasonably practicable.
Applicable statutory rights remain unaffected.
31. CANCELLATIONS
If you wish to cancel a repair before work has commenced, please contact TechLab+ as soon as possible.
Where authorised chargeable diagnostic work or labour has already been performed, or specifically ordered non-returnable components have been purchased with your agreement, you may remain responsible for applicable charges where permitted by law.
Any statutory cancellation rights applicable to the contract remain unaffected.
32. COMPLAINTS & DISPUTES
If you believe there is a problem with a TechLab+ repair, please contact us and provide us with a reasonable opportunity to investigate.
TechLab+ may request:
- the device for inspection;
- proof of purchase;
- the repair invoice;
- photographs;
- details of the reported fault;
- information about when the fault or damage was first noticed;
- information concerning subsequent impact, pressure or liquid exposure;
- information concerning subsequent third-party repairs or modifications; and
- other information reasonably relevant to the complaint.
When assessing a complaint, TechLab+ may rely upon repair records, photographs, diagnostic information, device-condition records and other relevant evidence.
Where appropriate, an independent technical assessment may be considered where the cause of a fault or damage is genuinely disputed.
Nothing in these Terms prevents a customer from exercising any lawful right to pursue a claim.
33. PAYMENT DISPUTES & CHARGEBACKS
If you believe that a payment is incorrect or that an authorised service has not been supplied as agreed, we encourage you to contact TechLab+ so that we have an opportunity to investigate.
Where a payment dispute or chargeback occurs, TechLab+ may provide relevant evidence to the bank, card provider or payment processor.
This may include:
- repair authorisations;
- quotations;
- invoices;
- receipts;
- customer communications;
- photographs;
- diagnostic results;
- device-condition records;
- collection records; and
- warranty or complaint records.
Nothing in this section prevents customers from exercising lawful rights available through their bank, card provider, court or another applicable process.
34. EVIDENCE & RECORD RETENTION
TechLab+ may retain records reasonably necessary for:
- fulfilling repair contracts;
- warranty administration;
- quality control;
- preventing and investigating fraud;
- responding to complaints;
- responding to payment disputes and chargebacks;
- establishing the condition of a device;
- resolving legal disputes; and
- complying with legal obligations.
Records may include photographs, diagnostic results, correspondence, invoices, repair notes, authorisations and collection information.
Personal information will be retained and processed in accordance with applicable data-protection law and our Privacy Policy.
35. DISPUTED OR INACCURATE CLAIMS
TechLab+ reserves the right to investigate warranty, refund, damage or compensation claims where the circumstances reasonably require verification.
TechLab+ may rely upon photographs, repair records, diagnostic information, correspondence, device-condition records and other lawful evidence when investigating a disputed claim.
Where information provided in support of a claim appears materially inconsistent with the available evidence, TechLab+ may request further information or evidence before determining whether the claim falls within our commercial warranty.
Nothing in this section permits TechLab+ to refuse a valid statutory claim merely because the claim is disputed.
36. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
TechLab+ may amend these Terms & Conditions from time to time.
The Terms applicable to a particular repair will generally be those provided or made available when the repair agreement is entered into.
A later amendment will not retrospectively alter an existing repair agreement unless agreed between the parties or required by law.
37. SEVERABILITY
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unlawful, invalid or unenforceable, this will not affect the remaining provisions to the extent permitted by law.
38. STATUTORY CONSUMER RIGHTS
Nothing in TechLab+’s commercial warranty or these Terms is intended to remove, replace or reduce statutory rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Where applicable, TechLab+ will perform services with reasonable care and skill and comply with its legal obligations concerning components supplied as part of a repair.
Where TechLab+ is legally responsible for a defective repair or component, these Terms do not prevent the customer from obtaining any remedy to which they are legally entitled.
39. GOVERNING LAW
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Nothing in this provision deprives a consumer of mandatory legal protections applicable to them.
